peter james: selections from completed works
peter james is a sound designer, musician and producer based in Perth, Scotland. Availing himself to mixed genre’s but his output is primarily ambient.
1. the first time before the last time
From the album senessence (2019), now available on peter’s bandcamp page and also including the track “wakeless” (remastered for this latest release in 2025)
senessence was originally released as a limited edition CD on Geoff Small’s Aatma label, in late 2019
2. the weight of absence
From the 2022 album of the same name, the weight of absence is a dark introspective piece featuring peter on bass and some quite haunting sampling techniques.
3. the end of dreams
Title track from the end of dreams album (2024). An album recorded throughout ongoing health problems with a collaborative group of musicians.
Recorded throughout 2023, peter suffered multiple strokes during the recording, leaving him to note that it could well be his final output. Thankfully, this was not the case.
4. Rational Delirium
The final piece is a Vee VV track (Irrational Exuberance) and re-interpreted by peter as Rational Delirium.
Vee VV (See our Blackpool music articles for more (part one, part two)) are survivors of the late 70’s early 80’s post punk movement and still gig regularly around the country.
