East of The Wire – Episode 6

Every week we pick two tracks from the East Village Radio and The Wired’s regular bandcamp shows. For more information see this article.

East Village radio (12/04/25) featured a piece on Rave deep cuts from a Bandcamp Daily feature. We feature one of those tracks and another from part two of the show.

The first selection is Big Dipper by Return Of the Living Acid from the album Return of the Living Acid

The 2nd selection is from Australian artist Jo Schornikow called Upstream from the album Quiet Excerpts ep. The longtime Phosphorescent keyboardist recorded these new songs at the church she moonlights at in Nashville, Tennessee, with additional recording in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia.

Another eclectic selection on The Wired’s On Air presented this time by Emily Bick. These selections are from the 15th May show.

The first track is Consider The Priesthood by True Green from the album Consider The Priesthood/Falconry, True Green’s name comes from medieval nun Hildegard of Bingen’s idea of viriditas, and also a lawn care company. Their debut, My Lost Decade, came out on Spacecase Records in 2024, and they are working on a new album. They live in Minneapolis. There are elements of Slint in their sound.

Finally River, Stream, Ocean by Xu Shaoyang from the single River, Stream, Ocean. His songs pick apart conventional ideas of musicality by embracing fragments, happy accidents and the spirit of amateurism.

The Wire – Adventures In Sound And Music broadcasts at 9pm every Thursday on Resonance 104.4FM
